The restoration works on the mosaic Helios and the Lunar Phases, by the artist Armand Olivè Milián, have now been completed in the main lobby of Barcelona Nord Bus Station, in the ticket office area.

The intervention has made it possible to fully recover this artwork following the recent transformation of the lobby. Prior to the renovation works, part of the mosaic was hidden by the escalators. Under the new project, which reorganises all services onto a single level, these escalators have been removed, revealing a section of the mural that required conservation work.

The restoration has been carried out faithfully following the original technique used by the artist, applying conservation criteria that respect the integrity of the work and with the aim of ensuring its long-term preservation.

The mosaic depicts a yellow sun set against a background of blue waves, surrounded by two concentric borders symbolising the different phases of the moon— a composition that gives artistic identity to the station’s entrance area.

This intervention forms part of the broader transformation project of Barcelona Nord Bus Station, aimed at improving the experience of users at one of the city’s main transport interchanges, while also protecting and enhancing the artistic and cultural heritage integrated into its facilities.

In addition, the project is part of the Barcelona Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination, funded by the European NextGenerationEU programme.
